The Public TTY is designed for use with a public telephone and does not interfere with standard use of the pay phone. The rugged TTY is housed in a vandal-resistant metal drawer mounted beneath the public telephone enclosure and opens to expose a stainless steel keyboard. Maximum protection from vandalism is provided by the drawer only opening in response to receiving TTY characters from the person answering the call.
